Quantiferon test

• The test material is blood.
• The patient does not need to be fasting.About 30 minutes before the test, it is advisable to drink a glass of water or bitter(unsweetened) tea.

The QuantiFERON-TB Gold In-Tube test is used to assess the likelihood of latent
( latent) Mycobacteriumtuberculosis infection or to confirm/exclude tuberculosis disease.
The test determines IFN-γ levels as an in vitro identification of the cellular response to antigens simulating ESAT-6, CFP-10 and TB7.7 (p4) proteins found in M. tuberculosiscomlex, with the exception of BCG-forming strains of the tuberculosis vaccine, thus eliminating false positives in previously vaccinated BCG patients.
Interpretation of the result requires a combined evaluation of diagnostic, microbiological, radiographic tests performed to date, as well as the patient's epidemiological data.
